Leonard Ekenekiso

Software Engineering · Fintech Infrastructure · Applied AI

I build resilient financial, platform and AI systems where reliability matters.

I work across software engineering, financial infrastructure, cloud platforms and applied AI. Over the past 8+ years, I have built and operated backend systems in banking, payments and enterprise environments, with a focus on reliability, clear architecture and practical delivery.

Current focus

At Boctrust Microfinance Bank, I lead software engineering and IT operations across financial infrastructure and digital transformation. I also founded Tetranyble Labs, where I am building Credense — financial intelligence and decision infrastructure for institutions.

What I work on

Engineering across the layers that make critical systems dependable.

My work often sits where application architecture meets real operational constraints: transactions, integrations, reliability, infrastructure, security and teams that need to ship safely.

Financial Infrastructure

Core-banking integrations, payment flows, idempotency, reconciliation, ledger-aware systems and reliability patterns for regulated environments.

Applied AI & Decision Systems

Designing auditable AI-assisted workflows and decision infrastructure that can integrate with existing financial systems of record.

Case studies that show the systems thinking behind the code.

Some production systems are private. These case studies focus on the engineering problem, architecture, constraints and measurable outcome without exposing confidential implementation details.

Engineering approach

The habits I bring to production systems.

Good engineering is more than choosing frameworks. It means making trade-offs visible, protecting invariants, leaving systems easier to operate and helping a team reason clearly about what happens when things go wrong.

Design for failure

Retries, idempotency, fault isolation, explicit failure states and safe recovery paths are part of the design — not production patches.

Protect financial invariants

Money movement and critical business state deserve clear ownership, auditability, transactional boundaries and tests around the things that must never drift.

Make operations observable

Structured logs, metrics, alerts and traceable state transitions turn production systems from black boxes into systems teams can operate confidently.

Prefer evolvable boundaries

I use modular service boundaries and integration contracts that let systems change incrementally without forcing unnecessary rewrites.

About

An engineer shaped by both systems and the environments they operate in.

My foundation is in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, and my software career has grown through building real systems for schools, payments, lending and banking. That background influences how I think: interfaces matter, failure modes matter, capacity matters, and a system is only useful if people can operate it reliably.

I work across Java/Spring Boot and PHP/Laravel backends, relational databases, distributed system patterns, cloud infrastructure and delivery automation. As my scope has expanded, I have also taken responsibility for engineering leadership, IT operations, security reviews, vendor decisions and technology roadmaps.

Today I am also exploring how auditable AI can improve financial decision-making. I am building Credense through Tetranyble Labs around the idea that AI in critical financial workflows should integrate with existing systems, preserve traceability and make its actions reviewable.
